“Who makes a good choice for an elected office is something I often wrestle with, especially working in the political world. I’ve come to believe that the people we choose to represent us in government must lead with compassion and respect for one another—no matter our differences—and must believe in equality for all human beings. They must listen to the public and learn from them, willing to advocate when it is hard, and strong enough to stand up to bullies.

Kate Sills hasn’t quite grasped just how exceptional she is. She is a thinker that cares, a problem-solver that listens, and a fighter that will stand up. If she doesn’t know the answer, she has the skills and determination to find it—whether that means making calls at the local and state levels or reaching out to Washington D.C. If she doesn’t have enough people to get something done, she finds them within a week. She values her own time, and she values everyone’s time as well. She knows how important it is to care and attend to this experiment we call a democracy.

For these reasons, I proudly endorse Kate Sills for California’s 5th U.S. Congressional District.”
